ABOUT US
Strauch Associates
Strauch Associates brings investigative and scientific expertise to provide expert opinions, corporate problem solving, and training skills to a variety of transportation and human factors challenges. As principal, Barry Strauch brings years of experience working with government and industry personnel, to investigate, train, analyze and write about transportation safety. With a PhD in the social sciences, and multiple publications in respected scientific journals, he can assist plaintiff or defense attorneys in civil litigation, write persuasive expert opinions that explain complex technical and scientific concepts to lay audiences, and help organizations identify and address problems that affect such critical topics as operational safety and corporate culture.
Dr. Strauch has assisted defense and plaintiff counsels in cases involving a major school bus accident as well as one involving a major motorcoach accident, both of which led to fatalities and serious injuries, and national media attention. He has also worked with counsel on a major marine accident, and a safety issue involving the role of electronic highway signs in highway safety. He assisted a labor organization in identifying and explaining how the hours-of-service rules under which its personnel worked caused operator fatigue, and adversely affected operational safety. Dr. Strauch’s ability to bring current scientific research relevant to the issues of the case in question has been praised by the attorneys who retained him. Further, his extensive investigative background enabled him to carefully analyze depositions and legal material in the cases for which he provided expertise, including a labor law case that enabled counsel to prepare convincing arguments that played a major role in a state judicial ruling.
Dr. Strauch has worked around the world with government and corporate personnel at all technical and managerial levels. He is well respected in both the investigative and scientific communities and has been called upon to train technical personnel in accident investigation techniques and human factors for non-scientists. Because of his experience before lay audiences, he has been asked to appear on several television series to explain both aviation and marine accidents and was interviewed on the Weather Channel to explain how weather phenomena affected a commercial airplane and a marine accident.
Regardless of the challenge, Dr. Strauch and the technical personnel with whom he works, can help your organization address critical concerns you may have, whether in legal, operational, or training settings. Contact him for a free consultation to determine how he and his associates can help you.
